On Tuesday the 12th of March the farmer arrived with 5 duckling eggs. We put them in the incubator to keep them warm and have been observing them very closely.

We also started recording in our 'Duckling Diaries' - here we are going to record all of our observations, information about ducks and our experiences with the ducklings.

By the end of the day on Tuesday we could see tiny cracks on 2 of the eggs.

When we arrived in school on Wednesday the cracks were a lot bigger but we needed to wait patiently for the ducklings to hatch.

At around 1:30 one of the ducklings took us all by surprise and popped out of their egg! They are very tired and have been sleeping lots to regain some energy. Once another duckling hatches and they are both dry and fluffy, we will be able to move them into their brooder box where they can have food, water and huddle under their heat lamp.

We can't wait to see which one will hatch next!
