Friends of Holbeach

Who are the Friends of Holbeach?

You are! All staff, parents and carers are automatically part of the Friends of Holbeach, and we need your help!

Friends of Holbeach (FoH) is a charitable organisation that raises funds to support Holbeach Primary School and is run exclusively by volunteers like you – parents, carers and other members of the local community.

We are always looking for people to join us – a more varied group of parents will better reflect the school’s community and enable us to arrange an exciting calendar of events that all of the children and their families can be a part of.

Any and all support makes a difference. We know everyone is busy but even a small amount of your time can make a big difference! You do not need to join the committee or sign up to any regular commitment. Every event needs a group of friendly volunteers and an hour of your time can have a big impact on their success.

You can contact us using the links below, ask around in the playground, attend one of our regular meetings or events or simply donate by clicking on the button below.

F.O.H Calendar of Events for 2024/25

We have lots planned for the year ahead; here are some of the dates agreed so far. If you have time to help at these events, great, but you can support us by just coming along! Buy a cake from the bake sale, bring your children along to the disco, donate a raffle prize, enjoy a burger and a game of Hook a Duck at the Summer Fair!

The Friends of Holbeach are pleased to announce that The Holbeach Hub shop will open every Tuesday Morning from 9-9:30 in the School House. It will also be open during our monthly tea/coffee drop-ins.

The children enjoyed an extra special treat this October in the shape of the Friends of Holbeach Disco. The children (and their carers) had a fantastic time dancing and enjoying the DJ’s games, getting glitter tattoos and enjoying sweet and savoury treats.

The event raised over £1000 for the school – definitely a treat rather than a trick!

Thank you very much to all of the adults who volunteered their time to support this terrifying event.

What we do

The money we raise directly supports our children’s learning by subsidising all educational visits and helping to purchase equipment as requested by the school.

In 2023/24 our fundraising supported educational visits, purchase of new equipment to improve the playground, support for emergency provision for families experiencing poverty, buying a recorder for every Year 5 child, supporting Culture Week and a gift for every new joiner and leaver to the school.

This year, 2023/24 our top fundraising goals are:

  1. Subsidising educational visits
  2. Completing the conversion of an unused classroom to a Science and DT lab
  3. Support for emergency provision for families experiencing poverty
  4. Developing the use of the Holbeach Wildlife Area in Ladywell Fields

In addition to vital fund-raising, the events we organise get the children involved in projects outside the classroom and give them a real sense of pride and belonging in their school community.

We organise events throughout the school year, including bake sales, a Christmas jamboree, school discos and the ever-popular Summer Fair. We rely on generous donations of time, energy and resources from all corners of the school community to make these events successful.

We also offer support to the school in various other ways– for example in helping with the planting and green spaces in the playground, providing snacks for the nursery classes, purchasing leavers gifts for out-going Year 6 children, and filming the Christmas shows.

FoH also exists to help parents and carers meet, share ideas and concerns, socialise and have fun and, above all, become a visible and positive presence in our children’s experience of school.

This year we hope to run more events for parents to get to know each other and have fun outside of school. We run a weekly book club on a Thursday and groups of parents have taken place in sponsored Half Marathons and Bike Rides.
