In Whatever Next!, Baby Bear embarks on an imaginative journey to the moon.

As we read, we ask the children questions like:

• “What do you think Baby Bear will see on the moon?”
• “What would you pack if you were going on a space adventure?”
• “Do you think we could build a rocket too?”

These questions sparked excitement, curiosity and language development as children shared their thoughts. To bring the story to life, we set up our very own picnic on the moon. Children build vocabulary as they learn words like “astronaut,” “rocket,” “space,” and “moon.”

We encourage families to talk with their children about space! Here are some fun ideas for extending this theme at home:

• Go stargazing on a clear night.
• Make a “space snack” together, like cheese and cracker “moons.”
• Create a family rocket ship using pillows, blankets, and chairs for a cozy space journey.
