What an amazing time we've had during Culture Week! This year, our country was Spain, and it’s been a fun-filled learning journey from start to finish.

We have become mini linguists, confidently counting in Spanish from 1 to 10 and learning a range of colours en español. It’s been wonderful to hear Spanish words echoing around the classroom. But the learning didn’t stop there! We also had a taste of Spanish rhythm and passion through flamenco dancing—ole! The children loved exploring the movements and music that make this traditional Spanish dance so captivating.

We also got creative with our hands and made our very own Spanish fans, inspired by the beautiful, colourful fans often used in flamenco performances. Not only were they fun to make, but they also came in very handy with the hot weather—a perfect cultural craft for summer!

We also explored Spanish cuisine and even enjoyed a traditional merienda—an afternoon snack! Everyone tried Cola Cao (a popular Spanish chocolate drink) with biscuits, just like children in Spain often do. On Friday, we celebrated Culture Week with a whole-school parade. Everyone wore their cultural clothing and joined in singing one of the songs we’ve been learning with Mr Picks. It was a joyful and colourful celebration that truly brought the school together.

To finish, we enjoyed a multicultural feast, sampling foods from all the different cultures represented in our class. It was a wonderful way to honour the diversity in our school community while celebrating everything we’ve learned during the week.

Culture Week has been a fantastic opportunity to explore a new part of the world, and everyone have truly embraced the experience with enthusiasm and curiosity.

Well done year 2! Buen trabajo!
