October is Black History Month.

One of the things we're learning about this month is the Empire Windrush, the boat journey and what life was like for the people who arrived in Britain.

We watched the Pathe news clip of the boat's arrival.

We listened to London is the place for me by Lord Kitchiner.

We shared Coming to England by Floella Benjamin and talked about being on a boat for 2 weeks and how hard it must have been to arrive somewhere new and the people not to be welcoming.

We enjoyed watching the children of St. Antony's Catholic Primary School performing the poem You called, we came.

We started making our own Empire Windrush and some passangers, as part of a whole school project on migration.
