World Book Day!
This week in Reception we had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day. The children all looked fantastic in their costumes, and it was lovely to see so many favourite story characters come to life in our classroom! We spent the day enjoying lots of storytelling and sharing our favourite books with friends. One of the highlights was when Year 4 came to visit and read stories with us. The Reception children loved listening to the older children read and sharing books together.
In class we have been reading The Paper Bag Princess. Inspired by the story, the children have been busy designing and making their own clothes. They worked hard measuring, cutting and decorating their creations. It has been wonderful to see them collaborating with their friends, sharing ideas and helping each other as they worked.
In phonics, we have been learning the sounds “ur” and “or”. The children have also been exploring rhyming words and listening carefully to words that sound the same at the end. When reading together at home, see if you can spot any rhyming words in your story books. How many can you find?
Well done Reception for another fantastic week of learning!
