Wilston Samuel Jackson
Wilston Samuel Jackson
Today in Nursery, we learned about Wilston Samuel Jackson, the first Black train driver in Britain.

To bring his world to life, we had a very busy day. We pretended to shovel coal to keep the train moving, we built a train both inside and outside, and we made a huge train track together.
Our indoor train was very special, it even had a ticket inspector and a refreshment trolley!
As part of our Black History Month celebrations, over the next four weeks the whole school will be listening to a new song every day, inspired by the book Musical Truth by Jeffrey Boakye. Today we listened to "London Is the Place for Me" by Lord Kitchener.
