Vaisakhi, St George & gardening
We’re having another lovely and very busy week in nursery, full of learning, exploring, and getting a little bit wet!
This week we’ve been learning about St George’s Day and Vaisakhi, as well as spending lots of time planting more seeds in our garden. If you’ve noticed that we seem to have grown taller this week, it might be because we’ve sprayed each other with just as much water as we’ve sprayed the cress while helping it to grow!
In our garden, we’ve planted marigolds and salad leaves, and we’re very excited to watch them grow over the coming weeks. The children have been doing a fantastic job of caring for our plants and learning what they need to grow strong and healthy.
We also enjoyed learning about how Sikhs celebrate Vaisakhi. Did you know that the name Singh, which is given to all Sikh men as a surname or middle name, means lion? This linked perfectly with our learning, as we also loved finding out more about lions and sharing what we already know about them.
Although the weather has been a little warmer recently, please remember to send your child to school with a jacket or warm jumper, as we spend lots of time playing and learning outside.
