This week we have been enjoying a variety of different versions of the story Supertato by Sue Hendra. The children have loved exploring the Supertato themed provision and have been very busy playing shops with real fruit and vegetables. They used coins to pay for their shopping and practised taking turns as shopkeepers and customers.

At home, you could extend this learning by letting your child help in the supermarket. They could write a simple shopping list, help to find the items and practise paying at the till.

We have also explored frozen peas and observed how they change over time. This led to some great discussions and predictions. As part of our work around Supertato, we have been talking about healthy eating, thinking about foods we should eat every day and foods that are best enjoyed only sometimes. We also discussed the importance of a good breakfast and how sugary cereals do not keep us full until lunchtime.

In phonics we have learnt the sounds ch, sh and th. The children’s confidence in both reading and writing is really growing and it has been lovely to see their progress this week.
