Happy New Year! Welcome back Pebble Class, we hope you had a lovely break!

In Pebble class, we started the new term with a wintery theme and chose wintery books! The children have enjoyed the stories of "Snow Bears" by Martin Waddell and Sarah Fox-Davies as well as "Stickman" by Julia Donaldson and Alex Scheffler.

In "Snow bears" the baby bears have hot toast by the fire after playing in the snow. We thought this sounded so cosy and wanted to make toast too! So Pebble Class made our own buttery toast and ate it by the fire on our big screen! (using a youtube video of a crackling fire!)

For "Stickman" we would like to make our own stick men, but we need more sticks. Please see if you can collect some and bring them next week. Any size or shape will be great!

We have also started learning Phase 3 phonic sounds on the purple sound mat. The children are very excited and want to know what their new sound will be each day! Thank you for working so hard with your children at home! This week we are learning 'j', 'v' and 'w'.

In Maths we have been focusing on the different amounts within 5 by using objects and hiding them under a blanket. For example 1 and 4 or 2 and 3, or 2 and 2 and 1, or 1 and 1 and 1 and 1 and 1! If we know there are 5 altogether but then hide some, how can we work out how many are hiding?
