Shell Class from Around the World!
This week in Reception we have been learning all about the different countries our families come from. We discovered that we have 20 different countries represented in our class and that we can speak 11 different languages between us. The children really enjoyed looking at different flags from around the world and talking about what they noticed, describing the colours, shapes and patterns they could see.
We also spent some time discussing the Football World Cup and sharing which countries we will be supporting. We are very excited to follow our class countries throughout the tournament and keep track of their scores together.
As part of our learning, we read about Marcus Rashford and learnt about the important work he has done to help communities and school children. The children were interested to hear how he has helped families and used his voice to make a positive difference.
In maths, we have been playing lots of practical games to help us apply all of the learning we have done throughout the year. The children have been using their counting, number recognition and problem-solving skills in fun and engaging ways.
You could practise some maths learning at home together with this kind of challenge:
“If you have 5 strawberries and eat 2, how many are left?”
Today we went on two adventures! First we visited our school Library and enjoyed reading magazines. Then we went for our class photo with the photographer
Next week is officially Culture Week. Our focus country is France and we will be learning all about French culture, from Monet to the can-can! We are looking forward to another exciting week of learning together.
