Today we held our Supporting Early Reading workshop for KS1 parents. We focused on the skills used for children to develop a good Phonological Awareness and talked about how this linked with Phonics. Firstly, thank you to everyone that was able to attend. It was a very successful morning and the children loved sharing their Phonological Awareness activities with you.

Sharing activities at home, that encourage Phonological Awareness, will really support your children whilst they are learning letter sounds (phonemes) and how to record them (graphemes). A question was raised about the pure sounds' - please see the link attached to this post for an information video about the letter sounds.

Our whole school Phonological Awareness focus will continue to be a part of the newsletter so keep an eye out for ideas that you can do at home with your children.

There are also a few ideas of some things you can do at home to support Phonological Awareness and Phonics.
