We enjoyed an exciting journey to Australia as part of our annual Culture Week. Throughout the week, we discovered what makes Australia such a unique and fascinating country by learning about its history, traditions, food, art and storytelling.

We were delighted to welcome special visitors who shared what it was like growing up in Australia. The children loved hearing about Australian schools, favourite games, wildlife and everyday life, while asking thoughtful questions and comparing Australian childhoods with their own experiences.

No visit to Australia would be complete without tasting some traditional treats! The children sampled Vegemite sandwiches and we also enjoyed ANZAC biscuits, learning how these famous biscuits have an important place in Australian and New Zealand history.

In art, the children created colourful dot paintings, inspired by the patterns and techniques used by Aboriginal Australian artists. They carefully explored how repeated dots and symbols can be used to tell stories and represent features of the landscape.

Our English lessons focused on The Dreaming, where the children explored traditional Aboriginal stories. Using these as inspiration, they planned and wrote their own imaginative stories, explaining natural features or animals through rich description and creative storytelling.

Culture Week has been a fantastic opportunity to celebrate Australia's rich heritage while developing our understanding of different cultures from around the world. The children showed great curiosity, creativity and enthusiasm throughout the week, and we are incredibly proud of everything they achieved.
