Autumn and Parent Stay and Play!
Thank you to everyone who joined us in the class for our stay and play. The children were so excited and proud to have you there!
Also thank you for sending in pumpkins, chestnuts, pine cones, leaves and more. The children have really enjoyed exploring them creatively. We will always welcome donations of any creative and natural materials!
The children have enjoyed rolling conkers in paint to make colourful patterns, creating beautiful pictures using real leaves, and exploring how the world around us is changing as the weather gets cooler and the trees lose their leaves.
In maths, we have been focusing on numbers from 0–5. The children are practising recognising amounts through subitising (seeing a number of objects without counting them) and learning that numbers can be made up of smaller parts. For example, 4 can be made from 3 and 1 or from two 2s.
In phonics, we have started to listen carefully for the first sound in words - a big step in developing early reading skills.
Next week we will continue our Autumn theme, but will also be learning about the celebration of Diwali and exploring how people celebrate with light, colour and family traditions.
