1S Science Week Experiment
This morning Miss Spicer showed us plastic bottles and paper cones. We were thinking about an experiment we could do with them.
We decided that we could make rockets. We turned our paper cones into mice and wanted to see how high we could get them to go. "The air inside the bottle pushes the mouse fly in the air" - Bea
After a while of testing we talked about how we could measure the height to be more accurate.
"It's tricky to measure because it blows up in the air and we can't reach" - Meerab
We talked about different measuring tools and Kenan suggested we count. This method worked as we decided the longer the rocket mouse was in the air the higher it had gone, but it got tricky when mice stayed in the air the same amount of time.
We also measured using a metre stick and by placing post it notes on a wall as high as the rocket mice had gone. "The post it notes were the easiest way to measure" - Ronnie
We then talked about how we could measure in different direction and measure along the floor. It was great fun stamping on the bottles to see how far the rocket mice would go. Amira got her rocket mouse all the way to the end of the carpet!
